Ballet Enchanté -- a local, youth arts group -- was established by Alice Nemecek in June of 2004. The hallmark activities of Ballet Enchanté are its choreography projects. Each season, the ballet troupe produces an original ballet program, ranging in length from 45-60 min. Ballet students between the ages of 7-18, who range in level from intermediate beginner to an advanced pre-professional level participate in the projects. The troupe spends approximately 3 months in rehearsal for any given project; approximately 8-10 public performances follow these extensive preparations. Through the choreography projects, students receive instruction in the technical, musical, and dramatic components essential for an effective ballet performance; they develop performance skills as a result of the rigorous performance schedule; and, they are instilled with a sense of purpose and social responsibility as they actively spread art and culture within their local community.
Ballet Enchanté also offers a small ballet training program to enforce the technical foundations of classical ballet technique. Ballet Enchanté currently conducts its activities at Sharon’s Studio of Dance, located at 622 Rt. 10 West, Unit 25 in Whippany, NJ. Classes and rehearsals are given on Saturdays and Sundays at the studio.
