Director of Education

The American Repertory Ballet (ARB) is seeking an experienced, full-time Education and Outreach Director to manage all aspects of the organization’s Education and Outreach programs which consist of: DANCE POWER, a 26-year partnership with the New Brunswick Board of Education providing dance education to every third grader in the district; DANCE POWER II, an extension of DANCE POWER, providing afterschool classes in ballet, modern, jazz, salsa and hip-hop to students in New Brunswick public schools; ARB’s Educational Assembly program; and other company activities that help provide dance access and enrichment to the community.
The Director of Education and Outreach will report to the Managing Director and will collaborate with the School Director and the Company Director to coordinate Education and Outreach activities. The successful candidate will be a highly effective programs coordinator with a proven record in dance education and curriculum development. In addition to coordinating ARB’s existing programs, the Director will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing new education and outreach bookings and initiatives that will help strategically increase the community’s awareness and appreciation of dance and the company.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in dance education
• Experience teaching in public schools, writing dance and integrated curriculum, and conducting professional development
• Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and an ability to work cooperatively with diverse populations -- Spanish language skills a plus
• Computer and database management skills, including proficiency in all MS Office programs --Graphic design skills a plus
• Detail oriented, independent problem solver, powerful organizer with an ability to multitask and complete jobs effectively and efficiently
• Degree in the arts, arts administration, dance or dance education. Equivalent professional experience will be considered
• Teacher of Dance Standard Certification, familiarity with NJ Core Curriculum standards, and experience in outreach activities preferred
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of ARB’s DANCE POWER and DANCE POWER II programs (coordinating schools and teaching artists; teacher and curriculum development; production of the final performance; and scheduling and budget management)
• Manage all aspects of ARB’s Educational Assembly Performances including (booking engagements; scheduling and budget management; coordinating with Company Director, School Director, apprentices and trainees)
• Represent ARB at Educational conferences and community outreach/cultivation events
• Research, develop and implement new education/outreach initiatives

Zaman Dance Theater is currently holding auditions for female and male dancers 16-21 years of age. The company is seeking to merge together a diverse community of performers, who are passionate about honing and presenting their artistry to the world. We are looking for young, vibrant, and cutting edge dancers, with strong modern, jazz, or ballet technique.
Zaman Dance Theater is preparing for its 2010-2011 season and will be in residency at a theater in West Orange, NJ.
